Dev Log #2 - First Test
Development Continues, Never Fear!
Welcome back to our Development Log for R.E.M.I.
This week we have put a real focus on the feedback from our latest player testing session. Not that it was the only thing!
Testing Feedback Updates
Player Movement
The testing feed back had a real focus on player movement, specifically the speed. Not only can the player now run through the level, but we have also begun now creating a stamina based reward system for this mechanic. (Hey we can't do all the work for the player!)
Wayfinding
The other major feedback we received focused around the fact that our testers were getting lost and could not figure out where they were meant to go. So to counter this, the team has prioritised the environmental direction and this week have created not only a poster based map system to be used around the station, but also a refreshed room identifiers from the original prototype.
Smaller Updates
Helmet UI
We have created a new player UI that will track not only player stats, but also provide the interface for the player to interact with the station and its inhabitants.
Daily Timer
We have added in a daily timer so players know how long they have till the lights go out.
Next Steps
Over the next week the team is focusing heavily on the implementation of the daily tasks, creating player interface within the levels computers, and the day/time cycle. We look forward to telling you all about it in the next blog!
